Examining a horse’s pedigree can offer you insights into what Hidden genes they may pass on.Hidden Gene Set: This is an additional base color, dilution & pattern that a horse can pass on to foals during breeding, but remain invisible on that particular horse.Visible Gene Set: One each of base color, dilution & pattern genes are visible in their appearance (plus any markings). ![]() (Note: as used in this overview, a RSHR "gene set" is 1 base-color, 1 dilution, and 1 pattern) Unlike with color, dilution, and pattern, the horse’s parents do not determine what markings may appear on a horse’s head and legs.Įach horse has two SETS of genes - Visible and Hidden.
